‘Roots of Change in Ely’ is a community climate action project in the heart of Ely.
Based at the Diana Garden, Hiles Rd, the community-led green space in Ely will host a series of gardening and skills workshops, for local residents and the wider community of Ely and Caerau.
Diana Garden, once a neglected and overgrown site, has been transformed into a welcoming garden where people of all ages can grow food, learn new skills, enjoy nature, and connect with one another.
Thanks to support from the National Lottery’s Egin programme, we are now taking the next step in Diana Garden’s journey to support climate action and develop new techniques for sustainable living.
What kind of activities will take place?
As part of the Egin project, we will be running practical workshops and activities linked to sustainability, food growing, biodiversity, and climate action.
Our first workshops have included
- Sack of Spuds – growing potatoes in a container.
- Recycling Pallets – make something useful from reclaimed materials.
- No Dig Gardening – Save time, less digging, create healthy soil.
Future workshops include, planting for pollinators, bird and wildlife activities, crafts, upcycling, low-waste living, food growing, and other hands-on sessions shaped by local interest.
Come along - join in!
Diana Garden is for local people of all ages. You do not need gardening experience to get involved. Just an interest in helping the Diana Garden be sustainable, such as using rain water systems or better biodiversity through wildlife-friendly planting.
We will post on Facebook new activities over the coming weeks, so look at:
