Our project is a creative exploration, working together with participants, project artists and partners. We will inspire and support each other and respond creatively to needs within our communities.

We aim to share artistic techniques and processes and learn new creative skills, along with offering trips and showcasing exhibitions that will help us connect and share our artwork and achievements with a wider audience.

Participant Quotes:

“It’s a place if you’re vulnerable you don’t feel afraid. It’s a place where, if my mental health is not so great people don’t pressure me or ask me questions, you’re just allowed to sort of be yourself, and that is SO important. It’s good for my mental health and gives me a chance to switch off.”

“I think I have progressed since being here, mentally and physically. I have done pottery and lino printing for the first time! I was really proud of my mug I made. I’ve never done pottery before.”

“I just can’t wait to see the result of my printing next week! When I see the end piece I feel proud – I didn’t think I could do it!”

“‘I felt at rock bottom when I arrived today and he session has lifted me right up”’

Creative Grief Space

Creative Grief Space is a series of art workshops exploring ways we might use creativity as an emotional support tool for grief.

It is a chance for participants to explore and focus on special memories to express within your artwork, which can sometimes feel overwhelming to talk about.

During feedback participants said:

“Having permission to feel those feelings made it special. There’s a link between sharing stories, being given creative opportunities, viewing and making artwork – acknowledging that you feel a certain way and letting the artwork tell a narrative – I love the process of it all, art helped me a lot’’

We are planning to run a series of Creative Grief Space workshops, so please get in touch beforehand if you would like to participate in these.

CAER Heritage Art

ACE Arts - Clay

Caer Heritage Hidden Hillfort is an ongoing project funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund aiming to explore the history and archaeology of Caerau Hillfort and the surrounding area.  We help to connect communities with their heritage and develop educational and new-life opportunities.

As part of the project we regularly run pop-up creative workshops involving sculpture, clay, and drawing, exploring the theme of Ely and Caearau’s rich heritage and our local Iron Age hillfort. You can visit our new heritage centre on Church Road, Caerau, Cardiff, CF5 5LQ to find out more about the project or contact below for more information of up and coming creative events!
