In May our local Timebank was visited by Edgar Cahn, the founder of Time Banking in the USA. Edgar was particularly keen to see some of the excellent work done through the ‘Timeplace’ scheme, which serves Ely, Caerau, Fairwater & Pentrebane and is led by local people.
A highlight of the visit was the chance to see the Ely & Caerau Hub gardens which have been designed, planted and maintained by local families, who have worked tirelessly through both Summer and Winter months to grow a range of fruit, veg, herbs and decorative plants.
Edgar was also impressed by our local Seed Library (hosted in the Ely & Caerau Hub Library) where you can buy seeds with time credits to grow your own fruit and veg at home.
Our staff and volunteers really enjoyed meeting Edgar and hearing about other projects and activities around the world, this visit reminded us that our local community is part of a World Wide community of people trying to make the world a better place, one hour at a time!
