New Hidden Hillfort Community Heritage Centre takes shape

CAER-Gospel-Hall-04-renovation-sml

The building renovation and extension works on the Old Gospel Hall on Church Road, Caerau are nearing completion. ACE’s ‘Hidden Hillfort Project’, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Cardiff University, is aiming to turn the building into an exciting and new community heritage centre where people can meet up, run activities and groups, and find out more about the fantastic history and archaeology of Caerau Hillfort.

The renovation works started in January 2021 and should hopefully be complete by the end of the summer, although there will still be much work to do such as creating a community heritage garden and kitting out the interior. The building renovation is happening alongside the development of a fabulous new children’s playpark and the establishment of a series of paths and walks around Caerau Hillfort.

If you’d like to find out more about the history on your doorstep or get involved, please get in touch with the Hidden Hillfort Team at ACE.
