Action in Caerau and Ely – ACE, are working with Cwmpas, the UK’s largest co-operative development agency, to develop and deliver a range of different projects and activities that will engage with the local community to explore community-led care, in the areas of Careau and Ely.
ACE hopes to discover:
- what assets and skills the community members have that would help support each other,
- what community members want and to see what opportunities exist to transform social care in the area, and
- what efforts on health, well-being and collaboration can be done.
Cwmpas have secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for the ‘test and learn’ project enabling communities to have voice and control over their care. ACE is one of two projects, the other is Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) who will test the ‘Preseli Cares’ rural model, with Cwmpas leading both partners. The project title is ‘Community-led care: Solutions to social care issues.’
ACE are running its first event – ‘Festival of Community’, on Thursday 25th May, 11.30am, at the Reflect Community Church and Centre, Grand Ave, Ely.
We will provide updates on local groups taking part, and how community members can get involved.
