Friday, 26th August, 12.30pm
Join us on Friday, 26th August for the Dusty Summer Fayre. With table top sales, a raffle, food and games, it’s a chance to have some fun together and find out what ACE has to offer.
Sarah Whitfield, lead volunteer for ACE’s Your Local Pantry has taken a lead on organising the fun day with the wider volunteer team to provide some much needed low cost fun for local families. Activities available on the day will help raise vital funds for the Pantry.
Sarah said: “I came up with the idea for the summer fayre to provide some fun but also help raise some money for our pantry. The pantry is helping so many families but we are struggling with food supplies as demand increases due to the cost of living crisis. We have weekly deliveries from Fareshare including tins and lots of fruit and veg, but are really struggling with enough chilled and frozen food for families to make meals. Events like this help us raise funds to buy a wider range of food for our community food shop. We were the first pantry in Wales to open and we are really proud of what we have achieved so far.
At the fayre we’ve got tables selling things, the community shop will be open to have a look at the clothes and household items, our school uniform shop, and we’ve even got someone selling garden gnomes.
The cafe will be selling burgers and hotdogs, there’ll be candy floss and popcorn. There’ll be a chance to find out about the different kinds of support and training that ACE provides at the Dusty Forge and projects like Benthyg – with their library of things, and opportunities to volunteer. So please come on down to the Dusty Forge from 12.30pm on Friday 26th August, have some fun and support the vital work of our pantry.”
Sarah features alongside volunteer Natasha Hayes and ACE Volunteer Co-ordinator Helen Bull in a new video, ‘A Day in the Life of ACE’, from Cardiff Volunteer Centre at C3SC. Check it out below, to find out more about volunteering at ACE, the Pantry and Café Barr.
