Our Dusty Forge Community Shop was set up by volunteers in 2016. Our volunteers saw that people in the community were struggling to get quality clothes and household items without a high cost. In response to this the Dusty Forge Community Shop was created and it was quickly decided that all items in the shop would have no prices attached and that it would operate on a donation payment only.
The our shop prides itself on the fact that it is the only charity shop in the area that operates in this way. Its dedicated volunteers are always on hand to help community members in need, and keep the Shop running.
The Community Shop offers a safe space for members of the community to come and get some clothing and household items for a donation only. This service has helped many people who may find themselves experiencing financial difficulties, but the service also helps to get people to come together and have a chat with the volunteers about other things that maybe happening at the Dusty Forge centre.
We recognised that since the covid 19 pandemic loneliness and isolation has been real issue for many, and coming to the shop has been a lifeline for so many of these people, who can come and talk with volunteers and other members of the public without judgement and with understanding.
So, whether you are downsizing a home, having a sort out, need a friendly conversation, or just want to give back to the community, we are open 5 days a week 10am – 4pm.
Come along and see us!
We are open 5 days a week from 10am-4pm and we accept any donation within these opening times.
Please refrain from bringing any donations out of these.
We also ask if you would not leave donations at the door as some items have gotten damaged.
Currently we do not pick up items due to volunteer limitations.
As stated, we operate on a donation basis and have a discreet honesty box for community members to put a cash donation. Unfortunately, we cannot accept card payments.
We accept clothing, household items, toys, games and pushchairs. We do not accept electrical items at the shop. We also do not accept second hand car seats, for safety reasons.
Unfortunately, due to a small storage area, we cannot accept large items. However, there are other local charity shops who could accept them.
All our items in the community shop have no price tags and runs solely on a donation basis only.
Open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm.
