CSCS Health Safety and Environment Test

What is CSCS?

CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is administered through the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board).

CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry. CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out.

Most principal contractors and major house builders require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid CSCS card.

You can access information on what Card is right for you by visiting the CSCS website www.cscs.uk.com/card-finder/.

Those requiring a Green Labourers Card will need to hold a QCF Level One or SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.  If you do not hold one of these qualifications you will need to undertake relevant training such as the British Safety Council Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment of which we can provide.

What do I need to do?

To get your CSCS Card:

First:

Complete and pass the ‘Level 1 Health & Safety in the Construction Environment’ qualification which involves a one day course at the Dusty Forge leading up to an online assessment of your knowledge the following week. You only have to do this qualification once.

Second:

Complete the online Health and Safety Environment Test  (CSCS Test) which involves a 50 question multiple choice exam taken from the revision book of 400+ questions. This needs refreshing every five years.

Third:

After two to three weeks you will have completed both elements of the course and a card will be ordered and arrive within two days.

Course Duration:

Level 1 Health & Safety – 1 day
Level 1 & CSCS Tests – 2hrs
Cost: £215.

CSCS Tests only – Cost: £34* per test.
*The CSCS test is £21.00 per person; the additional cost is administration fees.

A commitment to one week of self-directed learning and revision is required.

For those requiring a Supervisor or Manager Card, again you will need to hold an acceptable level NVQ.
